Since August of 1984, the County of Ourense welcomed and hosted hundreds of musicians and dancers from all over the world. These countries took part in an enormous project known as Xornadas De Folklore. The most prominent villages and towns of our county host all these folklore artists representing various countries. For ten consecutive days, our citizens enjoyed enormously this international display and interchange of traditional folk culture as expressed through music and dance. Everlasting friendships have been gained by each participating countries including our own. These international artists visit the most important places of our county enjoying the scenery, monuments and gastronomy of our culture in general. In return, these participating countries became excellent ambassadors of our culture all over the world.
Annually, thousands of spectators waited for this event with much anticipation. This festival has received excellent accolades, honour and recognition from hundreds of countries from over five continents. Year after year, more than twenty thousand spectators are being entertained with so much pleasure and enjoyment to this much celebrated festival.
